I went and checked the joint out. Let me start by saying every time I see a JDM import I get the warm and fuzzies. The engine I got compared to every other j-spec I see is like night and day. The one I got was like new, the ones I have seen lately are like..not new. That is not to say that they are not good engines, they are just dirty and obviously pulled directly from the car and shipped to the states. Same goes for this shop. The guy told me that he has been in business since September, he offers a 30 day warranty. He said that if I had any issues with an engine that he would exchange for another. All the engines come attached to the tranny. I asked about compression numbers and he stated that he DID NOT have any documentation on them, and again added that he would exchange any engine that had problems. He garunteed me verbally that all of the engines had less that 40k miles, which is more/less a standard claim of most JDM importers. I counted 4 engines, looked like 2 manuals 2 autos. 1 of the engines was shit, looked like it had come in contact with some extreme heat as the wiring harness on the drivers side was melted. Another 1 of the engines looked like it had an oil leak around the valve cover, and around the turbos. The other 2 looked generally leak free, no notable blow by on the turbos, but definately could use a very good cleaning.
